Spring Memories, Homeownership, and the Journey Ahead

Spring Memories, Homeownership, and the Journey Ahead

As we prepare our Sunriver home for the market this spring break, I can’t help but reflect on the wonderful memories we’ve made here since we bought it in 2017. From barbeques on the deck to stargazing in the hot tub, building snow igloos and lounges after a snowfall, cozy fires in the fireplace, and countless holidays and spring breaks — we’ve had so many special moments. Summers were filled with bike rides to get ice cream at Goodies and swimming at the pools, while winters brought skiing and returning home to chili or stew, paired with a warm cup of cocoa. And the memories go on and on.

We feel incredibly blessed to have had this time here. It got me thinking — how do you not become attached to a place that’s held so many special moments? I think this is one of the reasons I love working in real estate so much. A home isn’t just a structure; it’s where you build memories, create traditions, and bring the people you love together.

On a different note, I’ve probably painted enough for a lifetime, but I’ve learned that there’s nothing wrong with putting in some sweat equity. Doing some of the work yourself can help maximize your investment. Of course, you’ll need professionals for the more technical aspects, but part of homeownership is rolling up your sleeves and taking care of the inevitable maintenance that comes up. The same goes for investment properties — whether it’s replacing an appliance or fixing a clogged drain, it’s all part of the process. It can be a lot of work, but it’s so worth it!

Wishing you all a happy Easter and happy memory-making!
