Bend, Oregon is once again drawing national attention, this time as one of CNN Travel’s top 10 U.S. towns to explore in 2025.
The editors at CNN compiled their second annual roundup by inviting readers to submit their favorite destinations. After reviewing submissions, they narrowed it down to 10 standout communities across the country — each chosen for its natural surroundings, personality, food and drink scene, and overall visitor experience.
Bend claimed the #4 spot, recognized for its strong outdoor recreation appeal, energetic local vibe, and diverse culinary and craft beverage offerings. Set on the eastern side of the Cascades, Bend is surrounded by rivers, lakes, trails, and desert landscapes that make it a year-round hub for adventure seekers. Whether it’s hiking, biking, paddling, or climbing, there’s no shortage of ways to get outside.
The write-up also praised the town’s local culture and amenities, from casual food trucks to live performances and breweries. It even nodded to one of Bend’s more quirky claims to fame — being home to the last remaining Blockbuster store!
CNN noted that places like Bend are more than just beautiful, they’re thriving small cities that combine quality of life with a strong sense of identity. It’s no surprise that people continue to relocate to the area, while others plan their vacations around it.
