Wellness Takes Center Stage at This Year’s Street of Dreams
The NW Natural Street of Dreams marked its 50th anniversary this year, running across the greater Portland region from July 30 through August 23, and one trend stood out above the rest: wellness has moved from an afterthought to a centerpiece of luxury home design.

This year’s featured homes treated wellness amenities with the same level of importance as living and entertaining spaces. One home in the show included a dedicated wellness center complete with a steam shower and a gym that looked directly out over the valley, blurring the line between fitness space and scenic retreat.

This reflects a broader shift happening across Oregon luxury construction, where builders are increasingly designing homes around how people actually want to live and recover, not just how they want to entertain.
Wellness spaces are showing up alongside other defining trends at this year’s show, including strong indoor-outdoor integration and high performance kitchens built for both daily use and hosting.

Street of Dreams has always been a preview of where high end residential design is headed, and this year’s emphasis on wellness suggests buyers are increasingly prioritizing spaces that support their physical and mental well-being, not just their entertaining needs.

Whether you are building, buying, or simply gathering ideas for your own home, wellness focused design is a trend worth watching in our local market.
